The ripple effect is split into two parts: the fade-in and the fade-out sequences. This is because, in this example, the text appears, pauses, then disappears a few seconds later as a part of an intro movie. You can use the sequence effectively on its own, say as part of an interface animation where you just want the text to appear, but not to fade out.
